IT Band Syndrome or ITBS is a common running injury, which can be put runners down for months at a time if not treated correctly. Much research suggests the importance of strength of the gluteus medius and the core as being some of the contributing factors resulting in lateral knee pain, as well as improper gait.

Our treatment for IT Band Syndrome (ITBS) consists of removing scar tissue from the IT Band as it crosses the lateral aspect of the femur. Active Release is a great way to remove this scar tissue, usually within 6 to 10 session. Active Release combined with strengthening of the proper areas of the hip generally resolves the condition fairly quickly with a very high success rate.
